"We chose Buttermilk Falls Inn in Milton, New York, for our weekend wedding venue. We were lucky to have found Buttermilk by having a quick bite at Main Course Catering. We drove to Hudson Valley from Manhattan to look at some other venues. We didn’t love the places we saw and decided to get some lunch nearby, and we stopped at Main Course because of their outdoor seating. We had our dog with us and had lunch on their porch. While out there, we met Bruce, the owner, and fell in love with him. He was so wonderful and suggested amazing locations for us to check out including Buttermilk Falls Inn. "As night time set in, guests were able to observe a better view of the stark contrasts inside the barn — the tall ‘chimneys’ were stripped to their black insulation with patterns of light projected, creating a very urban, industrial vibe. One of the couple’s favorite parts of the day? “Before our reception began, Michael and I stole away from the cocktail hour to the barn where we prepared for our first dance to Somewhere Over the Rainbow sung by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. While we were inside the barn with the doors closed the guests were brought over and assembled outside. As the music began the barn doors slid open and we danced our first dance together. The Hudson Valley did, though, and doing some online research turned up a wedding planner who focused on finding unique, little-known spots in the region. His catering company is among the most popular in the area, and this small restaurant is a tiny picture of his passion for fine food served in a laid-back and relaxed format. The room here is funky and nonchalant. The food at Main Course is top-notch, creative and modern. Service is friendly and warm, and the prices are quite reasonable.
