Main Course has been the recipient of many awards and rewarding reviews.

colormepretty "We chose Buttermilk Falls Inn in Milton, New York, for our weekend wedding venue. We were lucky to have found Buttermilk by having a quick bite at Main Course Catering. We drove to Hudson Valley from Manhattan to look at some other venues. We didn’t love the places we saw and decided to get some lunch nearby, and we stopped at Main Course because of their outdoor seating. We had our dog with us and had lunch on their porch. While out there, we met Bruce, the owner, and fell in love with him. He was so wonderful and suggested amazing locations for us to check out including Buttermilk Falls Inn. Once we drove up to the location, we knew it was the one."

colormepretty "For tablescapes, the couple chose (and had Katie’s father send all the way from Britain) to use colorful old tea-tins for the gorgeous centerpieces and beautifully-arranged fruit on cutting boards atop burlap runners. Pretty pink-rimmed china plates displayed letterpress menu cards with mouthwatering descriptions of the caterer’s farm-to-table dishes.""

colormepretty "As night time set in, guests were able to observe a better view of the stark contrasts inside the barn — the tall ‘chimneys’ were stripped to their black insulation with patterns of light projected, creating a very urban, industrial vibe. The chandeliers provided warmth and elegance, as did the dinner tables with their brightly colored florals in pewter pitchers surrounded by candlelight.”"

colormepretty "Dinner was festive but intimate, with the lighting design of the barn’s interior becoming more apparent as day became night. With September being the start of harvest season in the Hudson Valley, guests sampled local produce in an heirloom tomato salad with champagne vinaigrette and grass-fed Hudson Valley beef with local chanterelle mushrooms.”"

snippet and ink One of the couple’s favorite parts of the day? “Before our reception began, Michael and I stole away from the cocktail hour to the barn where we prepared for our first dance to Somewhere Over the Rainbow sung by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. While we were inside the barn with the doors closed the guests were brought over and assembled outside. As the music began the barn doors slid open and we danced our first dance together. No one knew what was going to happen and they were all surprised and loved the drama of the moment.”"

colormepretty "Grace and Ben’s New York wedding took place in the historic Hudson Valley hamlet of High Falls. Country charm was the predominant theme with a historic bed and breakfast, a quaint reformed church, a rustic barn, and even an old airfield all serving as backdrops for this gorgeous country wedding. A fun-loving couple, blue skies and tons of DIY details were the icing on the cake!”"

colormepretty "From the Bride…My inspiration was rustic elegance. I wanted it to be colorful, so we never really picked a “color” per se, I just wanted it to be green, lush and full of brightness. The format was progressive cocktails, so the party was more free form, allowing people to dance, enjoy the setting outside, or eat whenever they wanted, and the dining stations were inspired by our favorite meals and restaurants..”"

Well Wed logo "In planning the look of the wedding, Ali says, "I had a lot of tear sheets that I gave the vendors so they knew what I found visually pleasing, and I trusted them with the details." To create the menu, which the couple wanted to be "a taste of New York" for their out-of-town guests, Ali and Nigel worked with the caterers to incorporate as many local and seasonal dishes as possible. The remarkable results included a gazpacho with sugar snap peas substituting for the usual tomatoes, which were not yet in season.”"

"When it comes to hiring wedding professionals, Lisa advises other brides to ask around. “Word of mouth is the best advertising—try asking your photographer to recommend a caterer, since they’ve seen their work before.” She stresses that developing relationships with the people you choose is the best way to make the event feel personal. “Take care of all your details ahead of time and find professionals you can trust to carry out your vision,” she says. “It’s not really about the dress, the flowers, or any of the other details,” she says. “It’s all about your love for each other and having a great time.”"

Hudson Valley Magazine Best Of 2007 Main Course has been voted best caterer since 1994
chronogram logo "Ask food enthusiasts who have been influenced by the natural- and organic-food wave what they want in a restaurant and you'll get a variation on three themes: healthy, enlightened cooking that gourmands can enjoy, moderate prices, and a casual but attractive setting. Bruce Kazan's Main Course fits the bill on all counts."

Well Wed logo "Ali and Nigel wanted to celebrate their wedding in their home state, but an “over the top” city wedding didn’t appeal to them. The Hudson Valley did, though, and doing some online research turned up a wedding planner who focused on finding unique, little-known spots in the region. On their tour of potential venues, the Buttermilk Falls Inn was the last stop, and “we both knew it was the spot the moment we arrived,” Ali says."

Record Online logo "Bruce Kazan, the owner of Main Course, is one of the Hudson Valley's real success stories. His catering company is among the most popular in the area, and this small restaurant is a tiny picture of his passion for fine food served in a laid-back and relaxed format. The room here is funky and nonchalant. The food at Main Course is top-notch, creative and modern. Service is friendly and warm, and the prices are quite reasonable. This is a wonderful place, a small place with big ambitions in New Paltz."
